About The Studio @ No. 4

The Studio @No.4 was born out of my need for a killer space to photograph my hand-painted backdrops—somewhere functional but still styling. What started as my own little creative fix quickly evolved into a buzzing hub for photographers, artists, and creators who needed a space that works as hard as they do.

Tucked away in an industrial estate, this studio embraces its warehouse vibes—raw, spacious, and ready for anything. The massive roller door? Perfect for loading in gear or letting in that dreamy natural light. Need to switch things up? There’s plenty of room to set up however you like. Plus, a kitchenette, tea and coffee on hand (because caffeine is non-negotiable), and all the essentials to keep your creative flow going.

I’m Michelle Barton—the artist, creator, and driving force behind MCB Studio Backdrops, where paint meets passion and backdrops become works of art. Since 2017, I’ve been handcrafting one-of-a-kind backdrops for photographers, videographers, and media pros who refuse to settle for ordinary. Texture, depth, and color? Oh, I mix those like a magician to create stunning visual foundations.

For the past 20 years, my husband and I have called the gorgeous Macedon Ranges home. We raised our daughters here, watched them grow into incredible women, and now, as they make their own mark on the world, I’m doing the same—crafting inspiring spaces and backdrops for fellow creatives who are ready to make magic.

I created The Studio @No.4 to be more than just four walls and a roof—it’s a welcoming, accessible space where startups, community groups, and workshops can thrive. I know all too well how tight budgets can be, so I’ve kept costs low to support those turning big ideas into reality.
